Are You Pregnant and Frightened?

Believe it or not, Mother Mary was too. She was a 14 year old, unmarried girl when she found out she was pregnant, in a culture that normally killed unwed pregnant girls like her by stoning them to death. The angel Gabriel told her to, Fear Not. She gives you that same message. Often, things that seem like theyre the worse thing that could happen to you end up being a blessing. Right now you are thinking of all the negative things associated with being pregnant. Thats like starting high school and just thinking of all the hard work and negative things that will happen to you in the next four years.
Of course high school has its stressful moments and lots of hard work. But it also has its moments of unforgettable experiences and fun.
We go through high school one day at a time, taking the bad with the good, coming out four years later smarter and wiser, and more prepared for life. No one says at graduation, I wish I never went to high school.

So it is with your pregnancy. It wasnt what you planned. Life rarely goes as anyone plans. God tells us:

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope. When you call me, when you go to pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, you will find me with you, says the LORD, and I will change your lot (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

We are asked to accept and trust in Gods plans for our life, because they are better than anything we can do on our own. When we separate ourselves from God and say we dont need God in our life, and fail to keep Gods commandments, we are rejecting God's help. But God still loves you, and patiently waits for you to turn to Him for help. If you live according to Gods commandments, God will bless your life. One of the big ten commandments is thou shalt not kill. That baby in your womb is Gods child:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you (Jeremiah 1:5)

You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother's womb. I praise you, so wonderfully you made me; wonderful are your works!
My very self you knew. (Psalm 139:13-14)

He has planned your life since before you were born. He has given that child to you to nurture and protect. You are asked to always do the right thing, even when it seems hard. Your obedience to God will not go unrewarded.

If you are pregnant and afraid, there are people who will help you, both with emotional support and helping you with the needs that arise due to the pregnancy. Place your trust in the Lord. You may be told by well meaning friends or relatives that the easiest thing to do is to get an abortion. However, what logically seems to be the easiest solution is not the best solution. Women who get abortions have a higher risk of depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, breast cancer, infertility, and premature birth. Abortions hurt women. Often during the pregnancy the woman is overwhelmed at the thought of all that the care of a baby entails. However, once that baby is born, the joy of a newborn outweighs any of the fears of the future. Frequently, friends and relatives who encouraged the abortion are eager to help care for the newborn baby, especially your parents. They may be very upset and disappointed initially, but after the initial shock wears off, they will probably be there for you.

And remember, if you come to the conclusion that you dont think you are able to care for a newborn, giving your baby up for adoption is the next best thing. There are many couples that are unable to get pregnant and are anxiously waiting for someone like you to give them the gift of a newborn baby. You will have a clear conscience that you did not kill the child in your womb, but gave your baby, and that couple, the joy of a loving family.

The Miracle of Life shows us how amazing and wonderful the gift of Life is that God has blessed us with. Through incredible ultrasound video and photos we can actually see this miracle as we watch a baby develop in the womb.
